Auxiliary Bishop Rob Mutsaerts of ‘s-Hertogenbosch has become the latest prelate to criticise synodality, asking what are its fruits and voicing deep skepticism about its entire model — one, he argues, that fails to teach the Gospel authoritatively and clearly at a time when that is most needed.
In a lengthy open letter to Pope Leo XIV published on his website Aug. 13 (see full English translation below), the Dutch bishop makes many significant points, including what he views to be the “greatest tragedy” of the whole enterprise.
